Onitsuka Tiger’s 75th Anniversary Event will be held until August 25 at Omotesando in Tokyo: Pre-opening party attended by guest partners such as South Korean actor Chae Jong Hyeop and Malaysian YouTuber Hakken
This year, Onitsuka Tiger celebrates the 75th anniversary of its founding by Kihachiro Onitsuka in 1949. Having been entrusted with the founder’s ambition to “do work which will support people’s hopes and dreams and connect to the future,” Onitsuka Tiger will continue to take on this challenge setting its sights toward its 100th anniversary. To celebrate its 75th anniversary year, the company will hold an anniversary event in Tokyo until August 25. Experience the world of Onitsuka Tiger through installations that showcase the course it has taken thus far and its future ambitions.

The pre-opening party was attended by fashionistas from around the globe such as South Korean Actor Chae Jong Hyeop and popular Malaysian-born YouTuber Hakken.

Onitsuka Tiger 75th Anniversary Event in TOKYO
“Onitsuka Tiger 75th Anniversary Event in Tokyo” will showcase the company’s past and present and the path it will take toward its 100th anniversary. There will be an art gallery exhibit showcasing 75 sneakers endowed with their own unique stories and ambitions: the shoe that underpinned the birth of the brand; the shoe that became a gamechanger for the industry; and the shoe that became the impetus for venturing into the global market. Also unveiled for the first time are art pieces inspired by Onitsuka Tiger, a short movie tour of Onitsuka Tiger stores around the globe using motion capture, full CG and XR technology, and installations of the latest shoe collections. Also on display at the venue are five anniversary items to commemorate 75 years in the business. The shoe models that started up the brand and made great strides, and the shoe models that challenged and evolved the brand have been redesigned and reinterpreted in modern vogue.

Onitsuka Tiger 75th Anniversary 『Hôtel Onitsuka Tiger』 in Champs-Élysées Paris
In Paris, ahead of the planned opening of the new “Onitsuka Tiger Paris Champs-Élysées Flagship Store,” the “Hôtel Onitsuka Tiger” has opened for a limited time. The venue for this collection is a historical structure built in the 18th century along the world-famous Avenue des Champs-Élysées which is not usually unveiled for public viewing. This unique environment is used as the concept for a hotel wherein guests are entertained with everything from footwear, eating and living to travel, music and art offered with a charisma and charm that is Onitsuka Tiger. “Hôtel Onitsuka Tiger” denizens include Grammy award-winning pianist Yuja Wang, Milan resident and Michelin Star Chef Yoji Tokuyoshi, Japanese-French singer-songwriter flutist and multi-instrumentalist Maïa Barouh, and young and energetic artist Yutaro Inagaki who will offer their art during the installation period. Guests can experience unique Japanese food culture at the “Yellow Tiger Café” that is open during the installation period. There is also an archive sneaker exhibit that showcases 75 years of evolution and challenges undertaken by the brand, a photo gallery that shows the course that the brand has taken over the years since its inception, and installations inspired by the dreams and ambitions of founder Kihachiro Onitsuka that conceived the brand. The brand’s iconic Tiger Yellow has been used to dress up the exterior of the structure and the interior. “Hôtel Onitsuka Tiger” aspires to create a space for artists across industries to gather and exchange ideas and express themselves in freedom.
