Fashion is dynamic, it’s exciting, it’s ever-changing. Each season there are fresh concepts, some from old and some from new. Fashion has become a key indicator of personality, status, wealth and interests – this is what fuels the fast-fashion industry, and unfortunately also results in the trade becoming rapidly unsustainable. Business consultancy, McKinsey, conducted a survey amongst key players in the apparel industry, which showed that the greatest priority for the majority was sustainability. Not only is it important for corporations to manufacture sustainably, but you, the consumer, the buyer, the fashion lover, also have a part to play.

ETHICAL FASHION-MINIMALISM

Have you ever looked inside your wardrobe and felt overwhelmed by options but uninspired by any of them? It has become more important to buy selectively – not only in aid of sustainability but also in an attempt to curate your look. Think about what you really want to wear, how you can express yourself visually as well as morally. This is the turning point, the moment you use your clothes as an extension of your character. You’ll become part of a movement, one that is looking to buy from a brand that pushes your style boundaries without compromising your ethical ones. How do we do this? All of our items are produced with premium materials and are designed with longevity in mind. In order to exercise minimalism in fashion, it’s essential that the items you purchase are not only versatile but are also of high quality. The technology behind our shoes fights against wear and tear, keeping your feet happier for longer. From moisture-wicking fabrics which prevent sweat absorption from affecting the materials to fuzeGEL technology offering better shock absorption and reducing the likelihood of damage– our shoes are made to last.

ONITSUKA TIGER RANGE ADAPTATIONS

We believe that we owe it to you to deliver hardwearing items that you can rely on, both for aesthetic purposes and practical ones. We also believe that it’s equally as crucial for us to do so in a responsible manner. Sustainability is a top priority for Onitsuka Tiger and the Asics Corporation. Not only do we look to produce quality goods to facilitate our eco-conscious consumers, but we also incorporate sustainability as basic principles into the design and manufacturing process of our products. This enables us to progress with our commitment to reducing our CO2 emissions, using Science-Based Targets set in 2015, amongst a variety of other sustainable efforts. Creating a world where the fashion industry is operating in an ethical and sustainable manner is only possible if we work together – us the suppliers and you the curators – to expedite change for the better.

ONITSUKA TIGER RANGE ADAPTATIONS

While all of our items are made with sustainability in mind, we’ve produced additional lines that are specifically in aid of ethical fashion. Our Recycled Leather Pack is a specially created range that takes some of our most popular models and gives them a more sustainable edge. The GSM, Tiger Corsair and Mexico 66 have been re-formed from elements that would normally be discarded, therefore limiting waste. Cow leather fibers comprise the uppers, the sock linings are produced using organic cotton, and the shoe laces from recycled polyester. Our iconic shoes made even better. We also have a number of completely vegan items, free from animal-based materials completely. These products are instead produced entirely from plant-based or synthetic material, and adhesives which too are 100% synthetic. Understanding that a brand has its own responsibilities means so much more to us now, and we hope it means just as much to you. We are constantly looking for new ways to accelerate our sustainable and ethical approach; keeping your style footprint on the rise and your carbon footprint on the low.
