Onitsuka Tiger is celebrating the brand’s 70th anniversary in collaboration with seven celebrated designers from around the world. The third release of the 70th Anniversary Collection is a collaboration with Masanori Morikawa, the designer of the brand CHRISTIAN DADA.
The JACKET retains the Onitsuka Tiger urban sporty vibe and uses soft materials to create CHRISTIAN DADA’s iconic loose silhouette. And, both sides are ventilated to combine functionality with design.
The breast and inner back pocket of the PANTS are adorned with a rubber patch that carries a statement that is also the philosophy of DADAISM, for extra impact. The jacket and pants are available in three colors, the CHRISTIAN DADA’s signature color black, dark tone green and burgundy.
Based on the concept of “Products out of a touch of adolescence”, Masanori Morikawa has designed shoes based on REBILAC RUNNER, Onitsuka Tiger’s legacy running shoe, in CHRISTIAN DADA’s signature color black. The combination of a mesh with leather engenders a feeling of stately presence. The arrangement of the shoelaces conjures up the image of a crawling serpent and features the kind of design detail that is reminiscent of DADAISM (the denial of existing systems).
The 70th Anniversary Collection features seven influential designers from around the world: Takayuki Chino, designer of “CINOH” ; Kim Kiroic, designer of “KKtP” ; Masanori Morikawa, designer of “CHRISTIAN DADA” ; Shimo Zhou and Une Yea, designers of “STAFFONLY” ; Kathleen Hanhee Kye, designer of “KYE” ; Teppei Fujita, designer of “sulvam”. The finale is designed by a secret guest.
