Platform styling is the easiest way to give streetwear ensembles a little lift, so our progressive and powerful interpretation of the MEXICO 66 looks set for covetable status this season.
Combining the chunky-profile element with statement colour, this low-top pair is crafted with bright yellow uppers overlaid with black signature stripes at the quarter and a tonal insert at the midsole.
Yellow laces keep the high-impact hue going, while original Onitsuka Tiger branding graces the counter and tongue, leaving no doubts as to this pair's distinctive DNA.
This series is a contemporary reinterpretation of the brand’s three shoes with iconic designs from over 70 years of the Onitsuka Tiger’s brand history. In its history, Onitsuka Tiger has produced many kinds of athletic shoes with their iconic designs since its start in 1949. Especially in 1960s, several iconic designs were created as the shoe developers and designers were eager to produce a true iconic distinctive design to embody the world’s sporting brand philosophy from Japan.
The ICON SERIES consists of: the Japanese national flag inspired design in 1960, the “UI line” shoe for the Japan’s national team in 1964, and the first shoe designed with the “Onitsuka Tiger Stripes” in 1966 which was the prototype of today’s most iconic shoe of the brand, the MEXICO 66™ model. Onitsuka Tiger ICON SERIES is focusing on these three iconic shoes used by Japanese national team athletes of each noted year.
