The Sneakersnstuff x ASICS x Onitsuka Tiger ‘Tailor Pack’ is our way of dressing up.
When we opened up Sneakersnstuff 16 years ago, you were not allowed to wear
sneakers when you were going to a club. And we never wanted to wear anything else but
sneakers. So we named our opening party “Dresscode Sneakers” and did not let people
in unless they had sneakers on.


The Sneakersnstuff x ASICS x Onitsuka Tiger ‘Tailor Pack’ is a nod to that era. As ASICS
and Onitsuka Tiger have a long history of making the best running shoes out there, we
wanted to come together and bring something a bit more dressed up to the table.


The ASICS GEL-LYTE V has a nice toned down off-white midsole, an army green smooth
synthetic nubuck upper with big parts in proper tweed. And just to make sure that you
can match these with something, we have also made a very limited run of Sneakersnstuff
x ASICS bow ties in the same tweed material. The bow tie will be included for the first
lucky customers on the release date in Stockholm, London and online.


The Onitsuka Tiger SHAW RUNNER comes with a nice navy pinstriped upper and
smooth synthetic nubuck details in navy. We have also been able to create a nice super
duper limited edition Sneakersnstuff x Onitsuka Tiger bow tie that will be included for
the first customers on the release date in Stockholm, London and online.


The ‘Tailor Pack’ will be released at all Sneakersnstuff locations January 31th. Other
selected retailers will sell the pack at February 7th.

HARANDIA MT SUEDE, by Japanese sports lifestyle brand Onitsuka Tiger, is inspired by
winter running.

The water-repellent ‘sneaker boot’ is engineered for individuals to challenge cold and wet streets.
Its stylish mid-top guarantees the support and protection of a boot, while GEL technology
married with a SoLyte midsole and High Abrasion Rubber, ensures the wearer all the comfort of
a sneaker.

It drops in three refreshing colourways: dark grey, dark blue and olive, or honey mustard. In
addition to the Onitsuka Tiger logo stamped on the heel counter, additional detailing sees “Kobe,
Japan Est. 1949” emblazoned on the tongue, an homage to the brand’s origin.

HARANDIA MT SUEDE is available from selected retailers from 1 August 2014 with an RRP
of €130.

A children’s version of the shoe in standard suede yet with the same colours will drop on 1
October 2014.

In its third season, Onitsuka Tiger X Andrea Pompilio represents the perfect union between the sportswear heritage of the Japanese brand and the Italian creativity of designer Andrea Pompilio. For SS14 the designer took inspiration from the musicians, artists and break dancers that enliven the streets of underground neighbourhoods in Los Angeles. The prints, Andrea Pompilio’s signature feature, blend together with Onitsuka Tiger’s collection in a kaleidoscope of computerised, sprayed and tattooed graphics that recall the artworks of urban artists.

For the first time, a capsule collection for women is added to the traditional men’s line, maintaining its strong street style personality. The colours recall the freshness of California, with clear references to Downtown L.A.’s graffiti. The accessory line of backpacks, caps and visors has a touch of the original Los Angeles ’80s Hip Hop style revisited with a contemporary vision.

Online films, vivid photography and Instagram uncover Milan’s hidden hotspots

Onitsuka Tiger supports its Spring Summer 2014 collection with My Town My Tracks, an exploration of contemporary Milan.

My Town My Tracks discovers how a young European spends his sunlit days through a series of films and photography with a Japanese twist.

This season’s ambassador is Erik Garbo, a half Italian and half Japanese student. The story begins with a personal video of Erik walking viewers through colourful streets of Navigli, his trendsetting neighbourhood. Located in the south west of Milan, the area is known for its historic canals and the latest street culture.

Onitsuka Tiger chose Erik and Navigli, because they share the brand’s values. All are proud of a strong heritage, but not afraid to challenge conformity.

Holding true to the love of Japanese detail, My Town My Tracks zooms in on one Onitsuka Tiger model: the SHAW RUNNER. In the key visual for advertising and point of sale, he presents the season’s hero sneaker, framed by the stunning Naviglio Grande canal and its vibrant side streets.

In his SHAW RUNNERS, Erik sets out to discover the hidden joys of his city. My Town My Tracks shows a typical day in his life as he mingles with friends and hops among hotspots. His favourite places are an independent record store, an underground bar and a pizzeria. He also can’t resist a sushi break or cooling down with gelato at an outdoor ice cream parlour.

Navagli’s secrets are further revealed by hundreds of beautiful Instagram photos that can be seen on instagram.com/onitsukatigerhq. A collection film and a behind-the-scenes video go into more detail about Onitsuka Tiger’s SS14 products and the vibe of Erik’s surroundings.

ONITSUKA TIGER ENGAGES AMSTERDAM FOR ‘MY TOWN MY TRACKS’ AUTUMN WINTER 2014 COLLECTION

Japanese sports fashion brand Onitsuka Tiger goes Dutch for Autumn Winter 2014, with a spotlight on Amsterdam for the next instalment of its My Town My Tracks campaign.

Produced by creative agency Blast Radius Amsterdam, My Town My Tracks is set in the Netherlands’ cosmopolitan capital where the focus is on Tosao, an energetic half-Dutch and half-Japanese entrepreneur.

The story of Tosao plays out in De Jordaan, the city centre’s labyrinthine north-west district of quiet cobbled streets, canals, courtyards, boutiques and galleries.

Following in the footsteps of My Town My Tracks’ predecessors, Tosao introduces viewers to his neighbourhood, friends and hangouts.

Onitsuka Tiger fans are invited to shadow his journey on foot and by bicycle to venues that capture the city’s rhythm through a series of intimate photographs, videos and more than 90 Instagram images.

Photographer Fleur Bolt captured the still visuals which accompanies the collection film and seven behind-the-scenes Instagram videos.

In the key visuals Tosao showcases the season’s hero product – HARANDIA MT – a sneaker-boot inspired by winter running and crafted for the colder months in an urban environment. 

Lisa Hogg, Onitsuka Tiger’s head of brand management, says: “Onitsuka Tiger is a brand for all seasons and this is evident in our AW14 models. We present our new collection in Amsterdam, a city of cultural secrets where every street, canal and courtyard has a story.  Tosao’s My Town My Tracks through De Jordaan reflects our brand values and belief in individuality and urban culture.&rdquo

Karian Weijers, art director at Blast Radius Amsterdam, says: "De Jordaan encapsulates Onitsuka Tiger’s vision of progress respecting tradition. Through Tosao’s eyes we get a glimpse of the neighbourhood’s jazzy brown café soul, which is totally in tune with the beat of young artists and entrepreneurs who call it home.”

Blast Radius’ senior copywriter, Vanessa Inggs, adds: “For the third instalment of My Town My Tracks, we sought out a crisp, bright documentary style in both film and photography to capture the feeling of discovering Amsterdam with a local on a cold winter day.”

Other styles to feature in the campaign are CURREO, a modern interpretation of 1980s classic running shoe X-CALIBER, and SHAW RUNNER WOMEN, a contemporary sneaker for the street-style conscious.

This season Onitsuka Tiger takes to the streets and explores new avenues of progressive sneaker design, to reveal a marriage of performance, comfort and urban style.

The iconic Tiger stripes radiate from new silhouettes, textures and colourways, with selected models incorporating GEL technology.

The label’s forward-looking direction is brought to life by My Town My Tracks, a story that began last season in Tokyo and this spring visits Milan.

Together, the new collection and My Town My Tracks embody a simple truth: Onitsuka Tiger’s footwear is made for those who challenge conformity and value street culture.

The three key models mark a new chapter for Onitsuka Tiger, a story of progressive sneaker design, beautifully crafted materials and cool styles.

SHAW RUNNER
SS14’s hero product is SHAW RUNNER, a contemporary interpretation of a classic running style. The key colour combination is a striking light and dark grey combination in mesh and synthetic suede with great yellow accents.

With three material and eight colour options, SHAW RUNNER’s profile is enhanced by an outsole that features accents of tiger patterns and Japanese TABI, traditional socks that separate the big toe from the others.

HARANDIA FOR WOMEN
HARANDIA has been released for this season for the first time in a women’s fit and its key colourway is light brown and lime in mesh/synthetic suede. There are two materials and six colour variations to choose from.


SHERBORNE RUNNER
fuses the upper look of ULTIMATE 81, one of the brand’s 1980s icons, with a modern midsole to create a new design. The shoe’s construction adds extra flexibility, cushioning and lightness, while the toe and heel area are reinforced for added durability.

APPAREL
In addition to footwear, SS14 offers an apparel collection that combines street style and sports. The range covers men’s tees, polo shirts, hoodies, jackets, track pants and accessories.

The accessories collection includes backpacks, wallets, smartphone cases and baseball caps, as well as a five-panel cap.

Sneaker fans from all over Germany flock to THE GOOD WILL OUT (TGWO) store when they want something special. Aficionados often camp overnight in front of the shop for first grabs on a limited edition. Owners Alex and Olli not only opened TGWO in 2008, but also the nearby Sneaker Museum in 2011. Their dedication to sports shoe heritage has made them sneaker freak idols.

At TGWO, rare and popular models are placed on the walls with devotion. The shop is an official landmark located in Cologne’s historic Belgian district. The original storefront, door and stone floor have been refurbished to stay true to the elegant style of the building built in the early 1900s.

Japanese sport lifestyle brand Onitsuka Tiger and long-time friend TGWO have collaborated to create an exclusive TGWO shoe called the SILVER KNIGHT. It is a limited edition of the 1980s running model X-CALIBER. The name plays with the word Excalibur, King Arthur’s magical sword.

The comfortable but street-savvy sneaker has a unique design that honours the stone grey, forest green and burgundy of the TGWO antique storefront. The collaboration between TGWO and Onitsuka Tiger, two authentic sneaker icons, proves that passion and dedication pay off. As the owners believe, “the good” will always prevail in the end.

The TGWO sneaker has a complete 3M upper with structured mesh that shines like a knight’s chain armour. Green stripes sweep over the lateral side, while silver 3M tiger stripes blaze from the medial side. A debossed TGWO logo on the lateral side is matched with a red debossed Onitsuka Tiger logo on the back. A final unique feature is one burgundy metal eyelet on each shoe.

This exquisite X-CALIBER has a suede-padded tongue and comes with three sets of laces in green, burgundy and white 3M. All laces have TGWO written on the tips. The left foot steps into a green sockliner with a TGWO logo, whereas the right foot gets a red sockliner with an Onitsuka Tiger logo.

It will be on sale at TGWO on December 7, 2013, and globally available on December 14, 2013.

This past summer, fans camped overnight to get their hands on a pair of Northern Liites sneakers by Onitsuka Tiger and Hanon. The limited editions sold out immediately throughout Europe. But there is good news for fans still searching for special Hanon shoes: the Wildcats are out.

Also built from the chunky COLORADO EIGHTY-FIVE model, the Wildcats sneaker is named after a running club from Hanon’s northern Scotland. The name was borrowed from the graceful yet untameable cats, also called The Tiger of the Highlands.

The shoe’s blazing red and orange symbolize the classic style of the Wildcat club and the spirit of the endangered super-predators. Along with other unique features, both Onitsuka Tiger and Hanon logos are playfully placed on the shoes.

It will be on sale at the London and Amsterdam Onitsuka Tiger locations as of November 9, 2013.

SS13 Craft of Movement campaign

For the Spring-Summer 2013 brand campaign we teamed up with NAM, a Tokyo based graphic/art collective founded by graphic designer Takayuki Nakazawa and photographer Hiroshi Manaka, to capture the Craft of Movement in modern day Japan. In just five days we rebuilt the bustling streets of Tokyo across three scenes. Using their trademark nylon gut, NAM suspended the props on the set, while the models stayed in continuous motion to imitate the fluidity of daily movement. For some extra help on set, we brought in art students from Musashino Art University AND Tama Art University in Tokyo to get their hands dirty. A set of wheels from our collaboration partners at Tokyo Bike, a Japanese “stop” sign and the classic cherry blossom tree infused the campaign with our Japanese heritage and twists of modern day Nippon.

Along with our brand campaign visuals, we’ve created a behind the scenes video that shows how Onitsuka Tiger worked with NAM and its production partner GunsRock Tokyo to combine fantastically staged photography and astute graphic design to create a dynamic experience for Spring-Summer 2013.

One of the most recognised sneakers -- one that was the ultimate jogging shoe of the 1970s - makes a modern comeback.

Let’s take a walk down memory lane. The year was 1969, and the renowned Oregon track coach and jogging expert Bill Bowerman had invested in a new sneaker distribution company called Blue Ribbon Sports. Onitsuka Tiger trainers were the top sellers and Bowerman made a proposal to combine two models for extra cushioning and comfort – a proposal that would lead to the popular jogging shoe we know today.

At the forefront of the worldwide jogging boom of the 1970s, the style turned sports shoes, which were previously only for competitive use, into a lifestyle-based fashion trend. The revolutionary shoes were first called the CORTEZ then, in 1976, the name was changed to TIGER CORSAIR.

Fast-forward to 2013. The TIGER CORSAIR VINTAGE is the first hero model in the brand reset, and there couldn’t be a model more suited for the launch. Updated with a modern silhouette, the TIGER CORSAIR VINTAGE maintains its classic design elements with its slim fit and long toe.

In honour of the original 1969 trendsetting, the TIGER CORSAIR is also released in a limited edition with iconic golden thread calling out the year of the shoe’s birth and classic red stripes.
